Moonlight Run 07

Once a year, Palo Alto runners unite under the light of the harvest moon for the annual Moonlight Run & Walk, currently in it's 23rd year of operation. It's a nifty little event that has you blindly trailrunning the Baylands, praying to god that you won't step in a pothole, subsequently launching yourself into a fellow runner with a blinky light attached to their cap and a t-shirt that says, "Yes, I'm all that (plus a bag of chips)."

Prior to start time, Mother Nature would spit her approval with a smattering a raindrops followed by Andre Bobo leading the warmup en masse, sadly proving once again why white people shouldn't hip hop (let alone in public). But our lack of coordination was countered by our enthusiasm and willingness to overlook Andre's shameless self-promotion.

At 8:15 pm we were off and running the 10K looped course. It would take a mile to hit pace and a rather blustery back stretch to navigate, but 50 minutes later Mama Foo would find herself at the finish line, wheezing her way to a pizza prize.

Final results to be posted Monday, October 1. But truth be told, Mama Foo is happy to simply have survived and apologizes profusely to the blinky light runner she inadvertantly catapulted herself into. If it's any consolation, you really are "all that."
